Tierra del Fuego- In the photo of January 14, 2024, During its operation, between 1902 and 1947, the prison housed prisoners of the stature of "Petiso Orejudo" and Simon Radowitzky, the Ukrainian anarchist, who managed to get around the two big problems to escape from the place: geography and climate. Some managed to endure both inclemencies for days or weeks, and mobilized unusual deployments of security forces or military, resulting in scenes worthy of being immortalized by the film industry. The most famous escape attempt of all was that of Simon Radowitzky, the Ukrainian anarchist transferred to Ushuaia after having killed the police chief Ramón Falcón, throwing a bomb at the carriage that was transporting him. The writer also reports other evasions, such as that of "the skinny one of Mataderos", whose real name is not even known (for some it was Manuel Nievas and for others Roberto García) but yes that they condemned him for repeated thefts in the decade of the 40. Perhaps the only successful escape from the Ushuaia prison was that of a group of political prisoners of radical origin, sent south after the coup d'état of José Félix Uriburu against the government of Hipólito Yrigoyen.
